ARCHITECTURE ENGINEERING

Program Educational Objectives:

In continuation of bachelor of Architecture which aims a providing general proficiency in Architecture, the IAU Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering has objectives which can be mainly categorized based on the academic taxonomy of educational objectives: Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor. These objectives are to combine knowledge and skill in educations in a manner to graduate professional architects in senior level. These objectives are classified as follows.

 

  • Provide students with crucial knowledge about every aspect in the field of architecture, and deliver experimental approaches to architectural design as well as comprehensive know-how in the construction industry in the region
  • Educate and train students in a way to effectively apply their professional skills and ethical responsibilities in a variety of roles and subject areas including private sector such as architectural and consultancy firms,  public services such as municipalities, and academia such as universities and design institutes
  • Emphasize the essential development abilities in students including, analyzing the problems, assessing the potentials, thinking creatively, and assimilating in an interdisciplinary design process for the construction industry

Learning Outcomes:

As those of in Bachelor of Architecture, the program’s objectives in the Masters of Architectural Engineering are reflected into many learning outcomes. These outcomes are for graduates both to carry out in the professional field as an architectural practitioner and to perform in academia as a lecturer. These outcomes are not exclusive, yet they reflect the minimum expected learning outputs. Upon the successful completion of the program, the graduate is expected to be academically capable of:

  1. (PLO1) Differentiating between the facts and opinions in the failed as well as inferring new interpretation in the area of ecological architecture and environmental psychology
  2. (PLO2) Practicing architectural design and making use of the acquired knowledge in addressing issues arising from advanced construction methods and new structural types
  3. (PLO3) Testing and experimenting the existing ideas and concepts such as theories and methods of architecture and placement theory in the context of real-life situation 
  4. (PLO4) Collecting and composing research projects including research methodology in architecture and trends of architectural thoughts aimed at providing in-depth analysis of domestic or international problems and proposing a solution to address them
  5. (PLO5) Planning and team building an effective interaction with the colleagues in conducting teamwork projects including physical architectural planning and site planning
  6. (PLO6) Evaluating and assessing the various school of thought including ecological architecture, Islamic art philosophy, and architectural law in terms of their application and relevance in providing the actual needs of society
