Psychology:
Psychology is an applied discipline that involves the scientific study of mental functions and behaviors. It focuses on such phenomena as perception and cognition, motivation and emotion, personality, attention, and behavior. The knowledge can be applied to various fields of human activity and thus psychology has several subfields including educational, industrial, social, developmental, forensic, etc.
General Psychology:
General Psychology is the most general branch of psychology, as its title implies, and both an applied and academic field that offers the required knowledge and skills for educational and research purposes. It is evolved out of both philosophy and biology, and deals with discussion from both areas.
General Psychology-Master’s Degree Program:
Islamic Azad University, UAE branch is proud to hold a Master’s degree program in “General Psychology” for the first time in the UAE. This university (based in Knowledge Village, Dubai) is a branch of Islamic Azad University in Iran and is recognized internationally.
General Psychology-Master’s program is an on-campus program taught by international lecturers in English language and intends to maintain high educational standards. The classes are held on weekends to facilitate the attendance of employed participants.
This program is a 2 year program (at least 4 semesters) and the students must successfully pass 34 credit hours of core and major courses including 24 theoretical and 4 practical credit hours. A dissertation (6 credit hours) is also required for graduation.
Registration requirement:
Holding a Bachelor’s degree, even in majors other than psychology, is the strict pre-requisite for entering the program. However, graduates of other fields (and graduates of psychology whose degrees have been issued more than five years ago) must take 12 remedial credit hours to get prepared for the main courses. These 12 credit hours are offered along the main courses, but must be taken and passed in the first two semesters of the studies.
The other requirement for starting the program is a proof of English Language proficiency. We accept scores of Academic IELTS (6 and above) and TOEFL (550 and above). The applicants who cannot present the mentioned scores are supposed to take English Language classes at IAU along with their credit hours. The English test scores wouldn’t be required upon their successful completion of the mentioned English courses.
